WE are in need
of your prayers and financial help for 250 school supplies to poor
village schools in mountainous areas.
Although the study costs for children in these areas are not as much as
urban zones, their families still cannot afford both it and school
supplies because they do not have a stable income and live year-round on
small crops and forestry.
These areas have
very harsh living conditions. Therefore, there are countless children
who have had to drop out of school, go to another city to make a living
or remain stuck in a cycle of poverty, and worse, social evils.
L.O.V.E
has started the
“Brighter lives” school supplies giveaway program over the past 3
years and we've seen it bring many positive results. Many children and
families are encouraged to continue studying and are provided with basic
school supplies for the new school year. Children feel loved, cared for
and more motivated to go to school. For difficult cases that we learn
through this program, we will make applications for HOPE scholarships.
This year we wish to
distribute Brighter lives gifts in 3 poor places in mountainous areas,
and have an activity for the children including a lunch meal, listening
to Bible stories and playing games. Yet, we need your prayers and
contributions in the mission trip of bringing HOPE to ethnic minority
children with
school supplies worth $15/basket.
The trips, the visits, the meetings, the
conversations always make us realize that there are many difficult
places on this country. But we know that, even though we may go to many
places, the most remote lands, only love from God can reach the deepest
part of man.
And yes, we are running for this…

CAREER GUIDANCE
|
|
This is the second time that L.O.V.E has
organized the CAREER GUIDANCE program, to help 12th grade
students have an overview of careers that suit their personalities and
desires.
A few days before, the staff sent the students a
link to take a personality test so they could determine which job their
personality was suitable for, creating a foundation for their choice.
|
Based on the results
of the children's personality test, we recommended appropriate
consulting rooms for each child. This year, we had 4 guests
corresponding to 4 fields:
Engineering/Information Technology, Medicine-Pharmacy/Social Work,
Foreign Language/Pedagogy and Economic/Service-Tourism.
The guests are all experienced, knowledgeable and working in the above
fields, so they gave appropriate and useful advice to 12th grade
students about choosing a major/career.

After consulting time, we gave each child a list
of jobs that only required short-term vocational training. Then there
was time to answer questions. Many extremely practical questions were
raised and the guests tried their best to answer them, helping the
students feel more confident in their decisions.

HOPE SCHOLARSHIP
|
HOPE
scholarships continue the mission of providing yearly tuition support,
food baskets and necessary school supplies to many poor ethnic minority
children in remote mountainous areas so that they can continue to go to
school, have an opportunity to pursue their dreams and achieve a better
life.
Last March, we gave
out HOPE
scholarships to poor students in a mountainous area of Quang Ngai
province. Looking at the bright faces of the children, we know that the
rays of HOPE are being lit more and more firmly in the hearts of the
children and their families, thanks to the generous heart of our kind
sponsors.

L.O.V.E
sees that so many of the poor and needy ethnic children out there still
remain out of the classroom, failing to complete secondary or even
primary school. Truthfully, ethnic children have the right to go to
school and learn and L.O.V.E always wants to help them and their
community but we definitely need you. Together, we will gradually
transform an ethnic child's life with a scholarship of $200/year!
|
In April, HOPE fund also gave a bicycle
to an ethnic minority boy named Bling Son Ca, living in a poor
mountainous area in Quang Nam. Previously, he had to walk about 2 hours
to get to school. His family was poor so they couldn't buy a bicycle for
him. However, this did not hinder this 8th grade student's determination
to go to school. Now, he has a better means to school.

L.O.V.E
was very happy to invite Ms. Thien Dung and Ms. Bao Ngoc -
two speakers have been working in the field of human resources and
administration and have a lot of experience in screening resumes and
recruiting. They shared practical and dedicated information to help
students grasp the basics in preparing themselves before entering the
labor market in the near future.
|
Ms. Thien Dung is currently People and
Culture Officer - Talent Attraction at World Vision organization. She
shared in detail the steps to make a CV, the content and how to present
a CV professionally as well as the points to avoid when submitting
applications to employers.
|
|
|
Ms. Bao Ngoc, currently working as Head of Human
Resources at Legend Danang Golf Resort, shared the employer's
requirements for candidates, so that students had an overview of the
employer's conditions, how employers would evaluate and select
candidates, from which students better understood the recruitment
process and had the necessary preparations before applying.

MY FAMILY:
My
father passed away four years ago from a stroke and his sudden passing
has come to us a shock. Now, my mother, younger sister and I are living
with my grandparents. My grandparents are old and cannot work anymore.
My grandfather has a malignant tumor on his neck, so his health is very
weak and he has to take medicine daily. That is why my grandmother just
spends time at home taking care of my grandfather. My mother becomes the
breadwinner and main labor in the house. She is a garment worker with a
low salary. Besides, my younger sister is very little and needs lots of
nutrition and care. My mother alone has to cover all the family's
expenses, medical bills and study fees. This is a heavy burden on my
mother's shoulders.
MY STUDY:
I
will be in grade 4 after this summer break. My favorite subject is Math.
I like drawing in my free time. I dream of being a teacher and I often
pretend to be a teacher when I play with my friends in the neighborhood.
However, my mother cannot afford all the fees. I do hope to receive a
helping hand so that I can have a better education and my mother's
burden is somewhat released. I sincerely thank you!

L.O.V.E.'s Note:
The mother is just a normal manual
worker with a low basic salary. She alone takes care of her two children
and covers all the family’s expenses. They do need help and a family
sponsorship is highly recommended.
