CAREER GUIDANCE MEETING On 26 October 2017, LOVE organized a career guidance meeting for our sponsored students in grades 11 & 12. Here we invited 2 other NGOs; one was Passerelles numériques (PN Vietnam) and the other was Reach. PN is a non-profit organization under Frech law, operating in three Asian countries: Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Their mission is to enable young underprivileged people to build their employability through education in the digital industry, and leverage their potential and willpower. Their beneficiaries are typically underprivileged or disadvantaged, in extremely precarious situations, according to the criteria PN has defined/specified for each of the countries in which it operates. REACH is a local, Vietnamese, non-government organization (NGO) specializing in vocational training and employment for Vietnam’s most disadvantaged youth. They use an innovative, highly pragmatic and effective training model which matches the needs of underprivileged youth with local industry and labor market requirements. At present, they offer 3 major courses: Food & beverage; Housekeeping (mainly for hotels and resorts) and Graphic design. Through many activities such as joining games, dividing into groups and solving funny mathematical problems, the children had an opportunity to access much useful information from PN and Reach as well as their training courses and enrollment criteria and process. In the whirl of social development in Vietnam, the reality of redundancy of those graduating from junior/senior colleges or colleges is what we need to help children to recognize and choose the right way to step on. At the end of the meeting, we got many good and positive feedbacks from the children so we will consider holding it once a year or every two years. Many thanks to the representatives from PN Vietnam and Reach for making it a success. |
