FLOOD RELIEF IN QUANG NGAI
Due to the effects of Typhoon Damrey, from 3 – 6 of November 2017, the provinces from Quang Tri to Binh Thuan and the Central Highland continuously suffered from heavy rains with total rainfall measuring from 500-600 mm, with over 700 mm falling in Quang Nam and Binh Dinh, causing floods in low lying areas and local rivers and streams. The flood situation in the central provinces from Quang Ngai to Ninh Thuan has continued to worsen because of the influence of consecutive heavy downpours and water release from local irrigation.
According to the report from the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, havoc caused by Storm Damrey, the typhoon said to be the strongest in the last 20 years in the South Central Coast, had killed 44 people and left 19 others missing as of November 5. The floodwater did cause serious damages to people and property.
L.O.V.E. then received an email from a Pastor in Quang Ngai city, asking to help the citizens in Tra Bong district, Quang Ngai city. Thanks to the heart of a generous sponsor, we had an opportunity to hold a Flood Relief day for people here.
L.O.V.E. gave gifts to nearly 100 families and 14 children. Each family got 10 kg of rice, instant noodles, fish sauce, cooking oil, and sugar according to the suggestion of the pastor and a child gift included notebooks and some other school supplies. Below are some brief words of the volunteer students who joined with
L.O.V.E.’s Team and some pictures of the day.
