THANKSGIVING,
A TIME FOR THANKS AND GIVING
The world has faced a multitude of calamities all at once. From
COVID-19, to political unrest, and financial hardships. Things
look pretty difficult and discouraging. What is the key to
solving these problems?
Faith, Hope and Gratitude
|
Scripture says, “in all things give thanks. Give thanks
in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ
Jesus for you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his
steadfast love endures forever.”
Gratitude is the key to many problems in our life. When
we start counting our blessings, our whole life turns around. It
changes what we have into enough, and more. It can turn a meal
into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude closes our eyes to what we don’t have, and opens them
to what others don't have. This is where gratitude transforms
thanks to giving.
Gratitude leads to generosity. Not what we say about our
blessings, but how we use them. This is the true measure of our
thanksgiving. It does not have to be financial. A word of
encouragement, a smile, a helping hand, our willingness, even
our presence are all things we can give. No one is so poor that
there is nothing to give; only those who do not give are poor.
We should certainly count our blessings, but we should also
make our blessings count. “Thanksgiving, after all, is a word
of action.”

Dear
L.O.V.E.
supporters,
On behalf of our Staff and Board of Directors, WE are excited to
share with you some major news about the
L.O.V.E.
family and its future.
|
Firstly,
L.O.V.E.
wishes to introduce
you to our new President, Alan Brown.
He is a Christian with a big heart for the kingdom of God. He
has been serving on
L.O.V.E.’s Board of
Directors since 2009. Prior to becoming President, he was Vice President for a year and
treasurer for 12 years. Mr. Alan has earned the respect of
those he works with, and we are confident that his leadership
will continue to fulfill
L.O.V.E.
‘s mission and vision.

Letter from Mr. Alan
“With the passing of our founder
and first president, Reggie Coward, I have become the President
of LOVE. Many of you were very close to Reggie and understand
his love and devotion to Jesus, his Church, and the people of
Vietnam. We will miss him very much, but God's work in Vietnam
goes on and the LOVE staff and I are committed to the health and
growth of God's mission in Vietnam through LOVE. I have been
treasurer of LOVE for 12 years and vice-president for a few
years, yet until becoming President I never realized the full
outreach of this great organization and the devotion of our
wonderful staff. Such beauty in Vietnam and in the faces of its
children, but such need. LOVE is a testament to what God can do
with one servant like Reggie and all of the LOVE staff and
donors who have joined in God's work these 20 years.
My wife Sally and I have two
adopted Vietnamese daughters and live in Virginia where I am a
university professor. I am also a retired US Navy Captain. We
first visited Da Nang 14 years ago when we adopted the girls.
Sally has been back once. We have a heart for these children and
for Jesus. It is critical that we love these children because
Christ first loved us. Simply giving goods and services is not
our primary mission, although a great one. Our primary mission
is sharing the gospel and the love of Jesus Christ. This may
sometimes look the same, but it is very different, and very
special. LOVE will stand on God's Word, “Whatever you do in word
or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks
through him to God the Father.” Col 3:17
May God Bless You and Keep You
and Your Families, in Jesus' name, and thank you for
for supporting LOVE ”

Next,
WE would like to announce about our new fund and outreach
Hope to
Overcome Poverty
&
Emptiness (HOPE)
HOPE
will
be a separate fund from our Admin and children’s funds,
specifically for humanitarian mission trips and other help to
the poor, to give hope to the “poor in spirit”. Starting in
November 2021, donations designated for the HOPE fund
and other general donations separating from our regular
programs, will be placed in the HOPE fund. Regular
programs will continue unchanged. Money given in Memory of
Reggie, donated to
L.O.V.E. as requested by his family, will start the HOPE fund.
Reggie would have loved this!
|

|

|

|
The HOPE
fund is motivated by our faith in God and is shaped by our
belief that Christ is alive and can be served directly by
serving those in greatest need.
Our mission for HOPE fund is to link the church in full with the church in need in a
manner that helps to bring relief to the poorest of the poor in
Vietnam, regardless of race or religion, to give hope to those
in extreme emptiness, in this life and for eternity.
The emergency relief, healthcare, lifesaving food, clean
water, micro-enterprise projects and other helps are served by
the
LOVE staff,
local churches and lay leaders who have been empowered and
supplied with goods by
L.O.V.E.
The poor and hopeless in spirit are converted and renewed by
their relationship with and service to the poor through our
direct helping, giving, encouragement and prayer.
|

|

|

|

|

|

|

|

|
We believe that we can show God love by serving the “least
of these” on this earth as Christ did. We pray that by God’s
grace, and with your support, we can bring relief to the
suffering and hope to the hopeless.
