Love Of Vietnam Expressed

By

Helping the poor and needy

www.loveofvn.org

(1 John 3:16-18 NKJV): By this, we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Da Nang City 2013

Da Nang (Đà Nẵng) is Vietnam's third largest city, and is located on the Eastern Sea coast, midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City ,and the largest city of Central Vietnam.

The city itself has neither the atmosphere of Hanoi nor the hustle-bustle of Ho Chi Minh City, but has its share of sights, and is close to the charms of Hoi An and the imperial capital of Hue, making it a popular vacationing spot for those looking to explore the attractions of central Vietnam or soak up some rays while hanging out on the city's beaches.

The city has grown rapidly in recent years, and has a 2008 population estimated at 900,000. Until recently, this growth was mostly outward and infill, but now there are high-rises going up as you can see from the photo above. There are also 6 modern bridges connecting the main city with the Son Tra Peninsula. The 3 newest are 4 and 6 lanes and are shown below. The center bridge is built to simulate a dragon.

Thuan Phuoc Bridge nearly 1,850 meters long and 18 meters wide, includes four lanes, a main span of 650 meters and two approaches of 600 meters each. The bridge ensures 27 meters of clearance for vessels on the river below and safety in strong storms and floods.

The Dragon Bridge, a 6 lane dragon-shaped bridge that is complete with a fire-breathing head. The bridge’s 1,864-foot-long continuous steel arch doubles as the body of the dragon, with the tail at one entrance to the bridge and the head at the other. At night, the body is lit by more than 2,500 LED lights, and on special occasions, the fearsome dragon head releases giant plumes of fire or jets of water

The Tran Thi Ly Bridge is also 6 lanes, 731m long and 34.5m wide, and also features a distinctive shape: a sail ballooning in the wind. The bridge has a single inclined pylon.

You can ride the wide and modern streets, and Da Nang looks and is very modern. However, down the narrow side streets the poor still dwell in small old decaying houses. It is hot and the brisk ocean breezes cannot reach there. Some in the new developing areas have had to sell their house and property to the city. They receive money and sometimes land to relocate. Enough to allow them to borrow money to build a new house; however, their income is the same or less than before and they are unable to keep up their loans. Others are moved into large government apartment complexes that are quickly becoming slums and crime areas. Many of these were farmers who only know how to farm and now have no place to farm and little or no income.

Other Things in April

Ho Thi Be is from a minority tribe of the mountainous region of Quang Nam. She is the youngest child. All her brothers and sisters are out of school and most are married with families of their own. She is cared for by her 20-year-old sister. Her mother is dead and her father ill.

The tumor on her face started 3 years ago and has grown until now. A German medical team will operate to remove the tumor in Hanoi in early May. LOVE and Danang Church are helping with travel expenses and food.

Visiting Thao Nguyen in Dai Loc

Pray for Ho Thi Be who will have a tumor removed.

Giving stipends in Nhu Hanh Son District of Danang

Here I meet with Le Thi Hien Giang. Giang is one of our brightest children and has been with us nearly 10 years.

I was caught napping. I seem to get tired quicker these days. Especially in 90° plus heat.

Sponsors Needed

Right now, there is a needy child living in poverty who is waiting for a caring person like you. We have many children who need sponsors.

To see these children or to fill out an application go to our web site by clicking child. Without your help, many of these will not finish school. For just $30 a month you can see that the child you choose will break the cycle of poverty by getting a good education, better food, clothing, and shelter. For more information about these children or an application form, you can also contact Reggie, who lives in Danang.

Please pray that we can find sponsors for all our children and put your prayers to work by sharing the need with your church, Sunday School Class, civic club, etc.

PLEASE HELP

Share your love and faith

These children urgently need sponsors who will support a child for $30 a month or the whole family for $50 a month, and will pray for them, write and encourage them.

Please Sponsor me!

About me:  We are a poor family and we are in the list of poor household of the local government. My father died when I was a young boy. My oldest brother, who used to contribute his income with our mother, just married and living with our family but he has to take care of his own family now. My mother works as a hired worker for years to raise four of us. Her health is getting worse and worse because her health declines. She is working as a food shop helper at the moment but her income does not offer enough to keep us at school. Beside that the arthritis of foot and ankle are a trouble and burden to her. I do wish to receive helps so that my siblings and I can continue our study.

(Mark 10:21 NKJV)  Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me."

(Psa 41:1-3 NKJV)  Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.
