Love Of Vietnam Expressed

By

Helping the poor and needy

www.loveofvietnamexpressed.org

(1 John 3:16-18 NKJV) By this, we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Official Newsletter of LOVE

July 2011

Dear Friends and Partners,

Greetings from Chi and the L.O.V.E. team in Vietnam. Thank you very much for your support in prayers and financial contributions to our work here in Vietnam. I am very happy to share with you our activities of the month and I am thankful and encouraged a lot for the opportunity to be the vessels that bring the blessings to the children. I hope that you all will also be encouraged because through your good deeds, the children have better conditions for studying and their lives are improved, as well.

We started the month by giving out text books, schoolbags, and material for uniforms and camp shirts for the children on June 5. Those who are under the family sponsorship program also received books and material for their siblings, too. Those who could not come on that day received their items at the L.O.V.E. office or the monthly meeting points. We were very happy that Mrs. Birgit, Director of G4kids, our German sister organization, and her husband had come to Vietnam early enough to join us.

Sponsors Needed

Right now, there is a needy child living in poverty who is waiting for a caring person like you. We have many children who need sponsors.

To see these children or to fill out an application go to our web site by clicking child. Without your help, many of these will not finish school. For just $25 a month you can see that the child you choose will break the cycle of poverty by getting a good education, better food, clothing, and shelter. For more information about these children or an application form, you can also contact Reggie, who lives in Danang.

Please pray that we can find sponsors for all our children and put your prayers to work by sharing the need with your church, Sunday School Class, civic club, etc.

PLEASE HELP

Share your love and faith

These children urgently need sponsors who will support a child for $25 a month or the whole family for $40 a month, and will pray for them, write and encourage them.

Summer Camp 2011

The slogan for the camp this year is “It’s me”. Our message to the children through our sharing and the games is that each one of them is unique and has potential. We encourage them to take a chance to discover themselves. There may be talents and values pressed down by the complex feeling of their situation. And more than that, they are loved and cared for by us and the sponsors and that we all will be by their side heading to a better future.

The summer camp this year was organized with much financial support from G4kids, and the efforts and hard work of both the LOVE staff and almost 30 volunteers. Thank you to all for making this happen. One thing I know is that we felt blessed guiding and playing with the children and enjoyed the day with them seeing their constant smiles on the faces. I still pray that God will bless you abundantly and reward you for your work and your hearts for the poor children.

The “ketch-up” dance turned out to bring the happiest and funniest moment to the children. LOVE staff, the volunteers and the children  all loved it and did the dance in an amazing and creative way. Thank you very much to our guests, the European sponsors, for such a moment.

We desire to help our children more!

Double digit inflation is making it more difficult for Vietnamese children to get a good education.

Beginning in August we will increase the amount of monthly support for all children.

To all our donors:

Like everywhere, inflation is growing very fast in Vietnam. Most foods, clothing, even educational costs have increased 2-3 times greater in the past 3 years. It is our desire to provide the necessary funds to help each child reach their highest potential. I know that many of you are also stretched in your finances, which is why we will make the following changes voluntary. We are asking that if you can to increase monthly donations for a scholarship to $15, a child sponsorship to $30 and a family sponsorship to $50 a month. All children will receive these increases in their monthly stipend:

Scholarships from 150.000 vnd to 200.000 vnd

Single child sponsorship from 300.000 vnd to 350.000 vnd

Family sponsorship from 500.000 vnd to 600.000 vnd

We hope and pray that all of you are able to increase your support because the children may not have funds to receive both text books and uniforms next year.

About me:

I live in a five-member family. My father works as a motorbike taxi despite his bad health and my mother sells goodies and beverages on the street to earn for our living. It’s hard for us to cover our needs with unstable income. Moreover, our siblings are schooling and we really need some help to cover our school fees and to get better education.

Family members:

* Tran Van Minh (Oct 20, 1967) – Father

* Tran Thi Phu Phuong (Dec 31, 1969) – Mother

* Tran Van Long (Feb 27, 2002)(grade 3) – Younger Brother

* Tran Ngoc Thu (Oct 5, 2005)(kindergarten) – Younger Sister

LOVE’s note: This is a very needy family and they have been waiting since October 2010 for help. Perhaps they would do better is school with the help and encouragement of a sponsor. A family sponsorship if you can, but at least a child sponsorship.

(Mark 10:21 NKJV) Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me."

(Psa 41:1-3 NKJV) Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child, please check the information by clicking on child or contact Reggie.

God bless you for your prayers and financial support for the children!
