Typhoon kills 92 and causes massive damage in central Vietnam

Quang Ngai and Kon Tum have suffered the worst number of fatalities with 27 and 21, respectively.

The number of victims in Nghe An has suddenly increased, with 9 people now reported dead. Ha Tinh, meanwhile, has reported 4 deaths, Quang Tri 5, Hue 6, Da Nang 3, Quang Binh 1, Quang Nam 5, Binh Dinh 6, Dak Nong 2, Phu Yen 1 and Lam Dong 2.  Of 199 missing people, Ha Tinh has 2, Quang Binh 4, Quang Tri 33, Thua Thien – Hue 23, Da Nang 10, Quang Ngai 82, Binh Dinh 29, Phu Yen 3, Dak Lak 09, Lam Dong 3 and Gia Lai 1.                                  

Some pictures from Hoi An, Phuong (one of LOVE’s representives) lives in Hoi An and spent most of the week trapped on the 2^nd floor of his house where water filled the lower floor. There was no power or phone for over a week.

These children urgently need sponsors who will support a child for $25 a month or the whole family for $40 a month, and will pray for them, write and encourage them.

We are very grateful to God because the Typhoon, less than 100km out, made a 45^o turn to the South, saving Danang from a direct hit. Some areas such as Thang Binh, Dai Loc, Hoi An and NHS in Danang are still flooded and we are waiting for reports of needs of LOVE’s families.

Đỗ Thị Minh Nguyệt’s family - what more can happen to this family?

1.  Two years ago the father was critically injured in a traffic accident, and was in a coma and paralyzed for many months. He was moved to HCMC and underwent several operations. He returned home a year ago; he can walk and mentally seems good, but still has an obstruction and continues to live with his trachea incision open to breathe.

2. Thanh - the mother got pregnant soon after he returned home. During her pregnancy they found a tumor. The baby was born and had a blood virus and was critical for several weeks and after a few more weeks was allowed to go home.

3. During the baby’s critical period, the father’s mother had a stroke while visiting the hospital, she was to go with the father to HCMC for another operation and Thanh (the mother) was to have the tumor removed. Chi and I were to care for the baby & Nguyet until the mother was able to care for them. Thanh, who had entertained thoughts of suicide during this time heard and responded to the good news of Jesus Christ.

4. The 1^st week of September, Danang had a Tropical Depression off the coast and it has endured strong winds and very heavy rain w/much flooding and part of their roof and walls fell down..

5. Thanh has endured this new trial with peace and calmness and God has responded with funds to rebuild and furnish their house.

The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.
