(1
John 3:16-18 NKJV) By
this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.
And we also ought to lay down our
lives for the brethren.
But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his
brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love
of God abide in him?
My little children, let us not love in word or
in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Student
Housing
The
October, 2004 newsletter featured the 3 student homes operated by LOVE.
One of the homes is in central DaNang,
Hai
Chau District, and 2 are in the north part of DaNang, Hoa Khanh
District. To the south is Son Tra District where there is another
university and several colleges. There is a real need to provide 2
Student Family Homes here. We would like to do this before the fall
term. As yet, we do not have sponsors for any of the other 3 homes.
Each home houses 6-9 students.
These
homes are for Christian students from very poor families who come
here to study from rural areas of central
Vietnam
;
some are minority tribal people. The cost of each home is about $50
a month. Your $50 will provide a home for these students free of
charge. Here they are in a Christian home with other Christian
students. They share the cleaning and cooking. They practice
individual and group devotions. They study together. This experience
allows them to grow as Christians and the home offers a base to
reach unbelievers in their schools.
Please
consider sponsoring Ruth’s Home, Rachael’s Home, Abraham’s
Home, or one of the 2 new homes or ask your Sunday school class,
prayer group, civic club, etc. to sponsor a home. We in turn will
send pictures and profiles of the students in the house and regular
updates. Most of the students have email addresses and know enough
English to read and write emails. Once we have sponsors for at least
2 of these homes, LOVE
will begin to set up 2 news ones in Son Tra. We provide bunk beds, 2
burner gas stove, and rice cooker for each home at a cost of
$300-$350. Your donation will pay the rent and the utilities.
This
is an urgent need!!!!!

Street
Children Program of Danang
The
Vietnamese government requires us to partner with a Vietnamese
organization to do social/charity work here. We have had a wonderful
partnership/relationship with SCP since 1998 when I first came to
Vietnam
. They are a
Vietnamese NGO and have worked for the poor since 1992. At present
they operate 5 children homes called “Families”, a Vocational
School, The Tomorrow Club (a day facility where children who peddle
on the streets can come rest, play, and receive a basic education),
several tailoring classes, and night school.
There
are over 600 children in their program plus the over 300 in LOVE’s
program. Each of the 5 children homes has 30 children, some are
orphans and some are from families too poor to care for them.
My
dream is to one day support one of these families. Unlike Tien Phuoc,
we are close by and will be able to have direct oversight into the
lives of the children and workers. Please pray with us about this.
At present all 5 homes have sponsors, but sponsorships are for 1-2
years and can change. The cost will be between $6,000 to $8,000 a
year. Within 5 years that cost could go to $10,000 as inflation
rises.
We
missed a chance 2 years ago. This time I want to be ready, or even
open a new one. A new one will have an additional start up cost of
buying or building a home for 30 children. That cost could be
$60,000 to $100,000 depending on the cost of the land.

Tien
Phuoc Orphanage
In
February we asked you to pray about supporting the orphanage in Tien
Phouc. After further talks and investigation, we decided not to
proceed. The main reason has to do with management and control.
We
do not want to just hand over money and have no say so on what goes
on.

Emergency
Prayer
We
knew that abortions are legal in
Vietnam
up to 12 weeks.
We
have just learned that women who come too late
(after 12 weeks) are advised to come back at 6 months and the
hospital induces labor whereas the baby is often born dead, but not
always. The ones that are alive are laid aside without milk or water
until they die. We would like to rescue these babies and have a plan
to encourage these women to carry their babies full term.
Ideas
1.
To provide a home
for these women who need it with a nurse living in the home. Here they
will be cared for, provided health and nutritional care and medical
expenses. In most cases they will need a supplement to replace lost
income. We may even include vocational training, such as tailoring.
Here they will experience the love of Jesus.
2.
To provide outpatient care and all of the above for those who do not
need a place to stay. We will need to pay them for lost income and
medical care.
3.
We want to work with local orphanages and or foster care families to
take these babies until they can be adopted or old enough to live in a
children's home.
If
you have suggestions, can help ,
or know an organization who can help - Please email!
We
cannot rescue these babies without a lot of support from all of you. I
believe we can do this for less than $1,000 a month of additional
support.

God's
Promise: (Lev
19:10
NKJV) 'And you shall
not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape
of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor
and
the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
Meditate
on this: (Luke
18:22
NKJV) So when Jesus
heard these things, He said to him, "You
still lack one thing. Sell
all that
you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in
heaven; and come, follow Me."
