(1 John 3:16-18 NKJV)  By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.  But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?  My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Official Newsletter of  LOVE                                                                                             February 2005

The second largest celebration is in September, called Moon festival. It is sometimes called the children's Tet . The children go house to house, dance as you see above, and ask for money. Similar to our Halloween

February is Lunar New year. A time when all of Asia openly celebrates. It is their most important time of the year. A time when the Dragon is openly displayed and cheered, even worshiped by many. Most Christians openly celebrate. It is a time of seeking favor for the coming year. Many give to the poor as a way to gain favor from the spirits.

The more they give the poor this one time a year the more favor they believe they will gain.

I believe that Satan's throne is in China and his prince over Vietnam has his throne in Danang, but God has a remnant throughout Asia , a much persecuted church. However the more the church is persecuted the more it grows.

LOVE went to Tien Phuoc and provided rice, and other food items to 53 very poor families. This is in addition to the 200 families we help every month with scholarships and/or rice and the 101 families that receive annual of semi-annual scholarships.

Add to this an average of 10 families who receive medical or emergency assistance.

Distribution of Rice and Staple Food items

The orphanage in Tien Phuoc needs a sponsor to fund its operation for the next year. The cost is around $6,000 a year. "A Helping Hand Adoption Agency" has offered to give us the funds to do this for 2 years. Please pray with us about this commitment to fund the operation of the orphanage.

There are 30 children there and the funds will provide food and clothing for them and pay the staff.

Above are pictures taken at the Tien Phuoc Orphanage.

LOVE is also helping 35 orphans in foster care with AHHAA's help. Some of these children are from Christian families.

Chi and I visited Tuan and Hong Tu, 2 orphans. This brother and sister have lived together since their parents died nearly 10 years ago. Tuan is 14 and his sister is 13. They were not able to go to school as they worked the streets to earn food.

Above LOVE donates a bike and they will receive 20 kg of rice each month. Tuan is now studying at grade 1 and Hong Tu at grade 2.

Above is Thuy Hang , a Christian student who attends Danang Church . She had to walk a long way to school so LOVE donated a bike to her. She also gets a scholarship from us each month.

Matching Funds

LOVE Total donations to LOVE: November contributions  $335.00 and December contributions were $3,075.00. Our Challenger will match our total of $3,410.

Thanks to all of you who responded to this challenge. LOVE's total for November and December with matching funds is $6820. Our need to meet our commitment for 2005 is nearly $3000 each month.

Please pray for this need to be met.

Most of February I am in the States to visit family and attend to some business. Chi and Hannah stayed in Danang. I hope next trip they both can come. Please pray for them and for the work Chi will have to do alone and for my travels to, in and from the United States .

God's Promise: (Prov 31:9 NKJV)  Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

(Prov 31:20 NKJV)  She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

Meditate on this one: (Lev 19:10 NKJV)  'And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the LORD your God.

The children here in Vietnam need your prayers and your help!
