Web Page: http://www.loveofvietnamexpressed.org/ | (1 John 3:16-18 NKJV) By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. | Official Newsletter of LOVE May 2004 | As I write this month I am full of joy because of the opportunities to help those in need. A chance to reach ethnic minority children, orphans, and handicapped children in Tra My and Tien Phuoc Districts of Quang Nam, in addition to the hundreds we are already helping. It costs $4,000 to build a kindergarten in addition to basic needs of clothing, food, scholarships, vocational training, and medical care. Please pray for God to guide us into these open doors. This is the first time a government official from Tra My has asked help from a foreigner. This has been a closed area. Why did they come to us? We are small and have no funds; yet we feel compelled to reach out. At the same time I am also grieved in my spirit because we may loose this chance. We are already over-extended by 2 months on our budget. We need another $10,000 by year's end just to meet our current obligations. In addition, we have the boy I wrote about several months ago who is waiting for a heart operation ($1200) and there are no funds for that yet. Then there is Thien, 15 years old, the young girl with blood cancer in March?s newsletter. There are no funds for that. The cost for chemo-treatment is $100 a month. Now we have another cry for help. Trieu, a 2-year-boy with blood cancer. See photos below. These 2 are condemned to die in 3-5 years. I am so burdened for these 2. Pray for Thien especially to know Jesus. I believe Jesus can heal them both, but for now we need to lessen their pain. At this writing, Thien is beginning to lose her beautiful hair. Without Jesus, she has no hope. |
15 year old Thien Luke 12:33-35 NIV) Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. {34} For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. {35} "Be dressed, ready for service and keep your lamps burning,
| Over the last 33 years as a Christian I have read through the Bible maybe more than 50 times and God never fails to speak to me and teach me something new or deeper than before. So many ask why I stay where I can?t evangelize. The ?church? teaches well, but I often wonder if we truly understand. Do we allow the Word to change our way of thinking or do we translate it to fit our own way of thinking? What do you think? Look at the 3 scriptures in this newsletter. There are over 300 references in the Bible about the poor(201), needy(40), orphans(4), and widows(56), yet the only one quoted to me is when Jesus said the poor will always be with you, and they take it out of context. What is the Bible saying in these 2 verses in Luke and in 1 John above? Write me! |
2 year old Trieu (Luke 14:12-14 NIV) Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. {13} But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, {14} and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." | This is a new family added to our rice and scholarship program. This is a Christian family whose father died late last year. None of the children are in regular school. Trang (14, far right) is now going to night school and we hope to get her in regular school next year. Hong (17) has been out of school too long and has some serious medical problems. We hope to get her in vocational training. |
| There are 3 brothers also. The youngest, Thanh is 9 and is in school; the 2 older ones dropped out of school to find work.. Their house is a small 2-room and yet, with 6 people, they have offered to take in a woman with 2 small children who is a new believer and has no house. |
| Pray for the board and staff of the Street Children Program of DaNang Chi with Ms. Phan and Ms. Nhan, two of the leading board members. Below is Ms. Loc and Kim Chi who work for SCP and here are helping distribute rice. There are over 50 staff members. Pray we will always be examples of God's love to them. We have shared the Gospel with many of them. | In closing, I can only wish all of you could come and see for yourselves the lives that are forever changed for the better because of the prayers and financial support from all of you. It is you that makes the real difference by your prayers and financial contributions, I am only an arm that reaches out in Jesus' name. I may speak for everyone here in saying, ?Thank you?. Thank you for your support of the poor here in central Vietnam and especially thank you for your prayers. I used to ask God, ?Why me?? I know many others much better qualified and could do a better job. Then I remember 1 Corinthians 1:27-29 (NKJV) But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; {28} and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, {29} that no flesh should glory in His presence. I no longer ask that question, but rejoice that God called me and rejoice over you all for your support. Many of you write and are such a blessing. Please ask God to send us more supporters so we can enter the doors that have been opened to us. | PLEASE HELP A CHILD THIS MONTH | Contact LOVE | Unsubscribe from list | Change Information | Forward to friend | Personal Correspondence: Reggie Coward 85/2 Le Huu Trac Son Tra District Danang, Vietnam Vietnam Phone: 011-84.511.394.0743 reggiecoward@hotmail.com | Blessings,
