FEBRUARY 2004

(1 John 3:16-18,NKJV):  By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.  And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.  But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
This is the scripture that compels us.


LOVE Representatives in Vietnam -- WHO WE ARE:

1. Reggie Coward is Director of all Vietnamese operations. He is in his 4th year of full time work in Vietnam.
He is a retired math teacher who begin helping SE Asian refugees in 1981, founded and pastored a Vietnamese Church in 1996, and moved to Vietnam in 2000.

2. Than Thi Bao Chi is a Vietnamese Christian Born in Quang Ngai, studied in Danang, and has a degree in English.
Chi has worked for LOVE nearly 23 months. She is Reggie's wife and is expecting a baby in June.

3. Bui Van Duc is a Christian Born in Quang Nam, studied in Danang and has a degree in English.
Duc has worked for LOVE nearly 18 months. He is engaged and will marry in 2005. One day he wants to be a pastor

New Families getting Rice:

1. I do not have the name yet. This family was hit by lightening 2 years ago. Husband, wife and one child still suffer hair lost and mental problems.

2. Tran Thi Thoi - Miss Thoi lives alone and has no children. We have also put shutters and doors on her one room house.

3. Dinh Viet Tuan - Tuan is 21, both parents are dead and he has 3 younger brothers to care for.

4. Le Tan Cuong - Cuong grew up in family 2. Now he must care for his mother-in-law and 3 children.

We now regularly provide 1331 lbs. of rice to 36 families at a cost of $130 a month

We were blessed by a visit from Melinda and her girls. We visited 2 orphanages, families 1 & 5, and also were able to go to Hoi An, Marble Mountain, and China Beach. Thanks to you all from all of us here in Vietnam.

Bikes: Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy receives her bike from LOVE
We provided medical assistance to 4 people at a cost of $342 and emergency assistance to 185 people at a total cost of $356. We have given 6 children bikes since December at a cost of $170

Tien Phuoc:
LOVE and SCP delivers over half ton of rice together with cooking oil, salt, noodles, and 100 warm coats to 2 villages of Khoa minority mountain people.These villages are about 100 km southwest of Danang in the mountains of Tien Phuoc District in Quang Nam.There is another Minority Village we want to go to next month. Most of the people in this village are Christians and are being persecuted by the authorities in this, another village of Quang Nam. Please pray for the funds and permission to enter this village
