AUGUST 2003

(1 John 3:16-18,NKJV):  By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.  And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.  But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
This is the scripture that compels us.

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ,

Ruth's House:
This month I want to introduce our Ruth's House. This is a project sponsored by LOVE. It is a home for female students from poor Christian families in the countryside. The girls picked the name of the home because they desire God to prepare them to be faithful like the Biblical Ruth to their future husbands' mothers and families.

Purpose of Ruth's House:
1. To provide free housing for poor Christian students.
2. To give the girls a Christian environment to live in.
3. To promote daily Bible study, prayers, sharing and worship.
4. To encourage involvement with a local church.
5. To promote service to God, each other, their church, and community.
6. To provide a base to reach others for Christ.

Who they are:
They are (1st photo, left to right): 1. Thao is a handicapped girl from Dai Loc ( she lost a leg over a year ago). She is studying tailoring. 2. Thu is a university student from Hoi An. 3. Linh, a university student from Tam Ky. 4. Hon, a university student from Dai Loc. 5. Thao is a university student from Dai Loc. 6. Thuy is also from Dai Loc and is studying nursing. In the photo to the right, the girls invite Duc, Chi and myself to lunch.

Below, left, Thuy is caring for a neighbor's child. On the right, is the mother of the child. The girls are well received by their neighbors and are a bright light and a ray of hope to their neighbors and to other students.

Linh, Thu, and Thao are pictured above left as they prepare lunch, and Duc "supervises" Hon as she washes the fresh vegetables. This is his favorite place to hang out.

Above, left, Thao feeds Jack - now that is a big job. (I wonder if anyone feeds him at home.) These girls really were blessed to cook and provide lunch for our guest from North Carolina. Right: Pam, Drew, Jordan, and the rest of us sit on the floor and enjoy lunch with the girls.

ALL OF THIS IS MADE POSSIBLE BY YOUR PRAYERS AND FAITHFUL GIVING.
FROM ALL OF US, THANK YOU.

Blessings, Reggie, Chi, and Duc
