MAY 2002

(1 John 3:16-18,NKJV):  By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.  And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.  But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
This is the scripture that compels us.

May, 2002
Greetings,

(Luke 14:25-35 NIV) Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: {26} "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters--yes, even his own life--he cannot be my disciple. ---- {33} In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple. {34} "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? {35} It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

The word Christian means a disciple (follower) of Christ. God doesn't always ask us to give up all, but we must be willing. Have we truly counted the cost? When I visited the US last year, God told me to sell my house and all I have to help the poor in Vietnam. When I listed the house for sell, I began to remember all who had lived there, and those saved there, and I realized that I had become attached to the house. I was very sad. I confessed all to my Lord and He restored my joy as I can only cleave to him. Have you given all to Him? I am only His caretaker.
At the left are children at the Hai Chau Street Children Center. LOVE began helping these children in February. We have also placed a volunteer worker here.

To the right are Ha & Duong from Street Children Family #2. We visited Ha's grandmother.

In both pictures is Bao Chi who began working for me as a translator. She is more a daughter than a worker. She will receive a university degree in English this July. She is a Spirit filled believer.

With the help of Chi we have been able to build deep and abiding relationships with many children. They are opening up to us and we have been successful in helping many to receive healing from pass hurts, anger and unforgiveness. They receive our love and acceptance and often, healing from feelings of rejection and poor self-esteem. They are seeing that life has a purpose and they are always close to the One who loves them with a perfect love. Please pray for the children and our work with them. Pray for God's covering and protection.

God bless you, Reggie

Special Update on Anh (subject of our March Newsletter):
Shortly after publishing the March Newsletter, I was notified Anh was missing from the Family Home.  We feared for her, but she returned, emotionally traumatized.  However, she is receiving much love, and is responding well.  She smiles and laughs now. The other children are seeing the changes and are seeing her as a sister with special needs instead
of just a bad girl. Many of them are reaching out to her also. The two cooks are seeing and are changing. They will soon leave and we think we have a new mother and 2 cooks coming
next week. Pray for Anh and the other children.
