SEPTEMBER 2001
(1 John 3:16-18,NKJV): By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the
brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of
God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
This is the scripture that compels
us. |
Greetings,
I am in the states for 10 weeks. I hope to untangle Da Nang's legal requirements. The main thing is they would not accept
my business visa to do charity work. I am in the process of applying for the required visa. Many Non-Government Organizations (NGO's)
in Vietnam have business visas, but they required me to return to the states and apply for a visa for doing charity work. The trip
home has been good. I have been very busy. I now see that the Lord permitted my return for several reasons. One was to sell my house
and all my goods, and to depart from all earthly goods. The money will be used to increase our work there (see the scripture above).
I have had many opportunities to share about the work in Vietnam and have gotten some support and some promises of support. Pray for
the children in Vietnam. Below are photos of some of the children we are helping each month. The money allows each to attend school,
and provides clothes, school supplies, and food. These are children that could not go to school without our help. We also follow-up
each child and get reports from each school as to effort, attendance, and to behavior. We will counsel families and provide additional
assistance as needed to be sure each child has good nutrition and study conditions.
The elderly man on the right lives with his daughter and 3 grandchildren. He is blind and sick, but when we told him we would help,
he grabbed me and began to cry, and hugged and kissed me until hs daughter pulled him away. Their house has no roof. We hope to restore
the house.
We are hoping to raise an additional $3000 to renovate some of the houses. November begins the rainy season.
LOVE's minimum budget
is now over $1000 a month.
